Laylatul Raghaib – First Thursday of Rajab – 3 February 2022

The first Thursday Night in Rajab is the holy Laylat ar Ragha’ib, ‘the Sacred Night of Desires’.

It is one of the most important nights in Islamic history for all human beings. It is the night that the Prophet (saws) was transferred from his holy father to his holy mother’s womb. It falls on the first Friday of Rajab. All that you wish for on this night, God gives you for the sake of His beloved Prophet (saws). In Islamic countries they celebrate this night with praising of the Prophet (saws), remembrance of Sayyidina Muhammad’s (saws) life, remembrance of God in their hearts, and visits to mosques, which stay open throughout the night until dawn.

Laylatul Raghaib is mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Tawus in his book of ‘Iqbal al-Amal’ and ‘Allimah al-Majlisi in ‘Ijazat Bani-Zuhrah,’ the reward of him who offers this prayer is that a great number of his sins are forgiven.

And that on the first night in the grave, Almighty Allah sends the person the reward of this prayer in the form of a life form to say to him, “Good tidings, You have escaped all hardships.”

The offerer of this prayer will then ask him “Who are you? Indeed, I have never seen such good-looking face, and I have never smelled such nice scent.”

The person will be answered, “I am the reward of the prayer that you offered at so-and-so night in so-and-so month in so-and-so year at the town of so-and-so. I am here now so as to settle your right, to entertain you in your loneliness, and to save you from this situation. When the Trumpet shall be blown (declaring the Resurrection Day), I will cast a shadow over your head in the Resurrection Court. So, be happy, for you shall never be deprived of goodness.”

It is recommended to fast on the first Thursday, preferred between Maghrib & Isha, or after Isha, recite 12 Rak’at namaz in six sets of 2 units.(with niyat/intention of Rija )

In every 2  Rak’at after surah al Fatiha,
recite 3 times Surah al-Qadr
12 times Surah  Ikhlaas.

After completion of the prayer, one should recite the following invocation seventy times:

It is reported by Hazret Sheikh Nizamuddin Awliya Mahbobe Ilahi QS
“Whosoever prays Nafl of Laylatul Raghaa’ib (mentioned above) will not die in the same year.”

May Allah Almighty accept our weak efforts and dues for the blessing of Holy Prophet (SWS), his Holy Family and Companions (RA), their Inheritors, all Saints (QS) and especially the Naqshbandi Golden Chain of Grandsheikhs QS, Shah Bahuddin Naqshband Muhammad Uwaysi al-Bukhari QS, ultan Awliya Sheikh Abdullah ad-Dagestani QS, Maulana Sheikh Nazim Al-Haqqani Ar-Rabbani QS and Sheikh Mehmet Ar-Rabbani   Al-Fatiha!
