Zamzam History and origin, Hadith Sahih Bukhari (RA):
Narrated Ibn Abbas (RA): The first lady to use a girdle was the mother of Ismail. She used a girdle so that she might hide her tracks from Sarah. Prophet Abraham (AS) brought her and her son Ismail (AS) while she was suckling him, to a place near the Kaaba under a tree on the spot of Zamzam, at the highest place in the mosque. During those days there was nobody in Mecca, nor was there any water So he made them sit over there and placed near them a leather bag containing some dates, and a small water-skin containing some water, and set out homeward.
Ismail’s mother followed him saying, “O Abraham! Where are you going, leaving us in this valley where there is no person whose company we may enjoy, nor is there anything (to enjoy)?” She repeated that to him many times, but he did not look back at her Then she asked him, “Has Allah ordered you to do so?” He said, “Yes.” She said, “Then He will not neglect us,” and returned while Abraham proceeded onwards, and on reaching the Thaniya where they could not see him, he faced the Kaaba, and raising both hands, invoked Allah saying the following prayers: ‘O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Your Sacred House (Kaaba at Mecca) in order, O our Lord, that they may offer prayer perfectly. So fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits, so that they may give thanks.’ (14.37)
Ismail’s mother went on suckling Ishmael and drinking from the water (she had). When the water in the water-skin had all been used up, she became thirsty and her child also became thirsty. She started looking at him (i.e. Ismail) tossing in agony; She left him, for she could not endure looking at him, and found that the mountain of Safa was the nearest mountain to her on that land. She stood on it and started looking at the valley keenly so that she might see somebody, but she could not see anybody. Then she descended from Safa and when she reached the valley, she tucked up her robe and ran in the valley like a person in distress and trouble, till she crossed the valley and reached the Marwa mountain where she stood and started looking, expecting to see somebody, but she could not see anybody.
She repeated that (running between Safa and Marwa) seven times.” The Prophet (SWS) said, “This is the source of the tradition of the walking of people between them (i.e. Safa and Marwa). When she reached the Marwa (for the last time) she heard a voice and she asked herself to be quiet and listened attentively. She heard the voice again and said, ‘O, (whoever you may be)! You have made me hear your voice; have you got something to help me?” And behold! She saw an angel at the place of Zamzam, digging the earth with his heel (or his wing), till water flowed from that place. She started to make something like a basin around it, using her hand in this way, and started filling her water-skin with water with her hands, and the water was flowing out after she had scooped some of it.”
The Prophet (SWS) added, “May Allah bestow Mercy on Ismail’s mother! Had she let the Zamzam (flow without trying to control it) (or had she not scooped from that water) (to fill her water-skin), Zamzam would have been a stream flowing on the surface of the earth.” The Prophet (SWS) further added, “Then she drank (water) and suckled her child. The angel said to her, ‘Don’t be afraid of being neglected, for this is the House of Allah which will be built by this boy and his father, and Allah never neglects His people.’
In Sunan Ibn Maajah (al-Manaasik, 3062) it was reported from Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah that the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for.”
Narrated by Ibn Abbas reported:”I served (water of) Zamzam to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him), and he drank it while standing.”
In Saheeh Muslim, the Prophet SWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Abu Dharr (RA), who had stayed near the Kaaba and its coverings for forty days and nights with no food or drink other than (Zamzam): “How long have you been here?” Abu Dharr said: “I have been here for thirty days and nights.” The Prophet (SWS) (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Who has been feeding you?” He said, “I have had nothing but Zamzam water, and I have gotten so fat that I have folds of fat on my stomach. I do not feel any of the tiredness or weakness of hunger and I have not become thin.” The Prophet SWS (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Verily, it is blessed, it is food that nourishes.” (Narrated by Imaam Muslim, 2473).
Anas b. Malik (RA) reported that Gabriel (AS) came to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) while he was playing with his playmates. He took hold of him and lay him prostrate on the ground and tore open his breast and took out the heart from it and then extracted a blood-clot out of it and said: That was the part of Satan in thee. And then he washed it with the water of Zamzam in a golden basin and then it was joined together and restored to it place. The boys came running to his mother, i. e. his nurse, and said: Verily Muhammad has been murdered. They all rushed toward him (and found him all right) His color was changed, Anas said. I myself saw the marks of needle on his breast. (Book #001, Hadith #0311)
Many people flushed and damp cloth (clothes) ihram, then stretched without squeezed to dry itself, and will be used as the “Shroud” (wrapping corpses) that died later.
Scientific Facts of Zamzam
This well has a depth of about 30.5 meters. To a depth of 13.5 meters to penetrate the top layer of alluvium Wadi Ibrahim. This layer is a layer of sand is very porous. This layer contains sandstones transport results from other places. Maybe there used to be irrigated river valley which is now dry. Or it can also be a result lowland debris or buildup results of weathering the higher topography.
Under the alluvial layer Ibrahim Wadi, there are half a meter (0.5 m) layer of highly graduated water (permeable). Very graduated layer of water is what is the main point of discharge of water in the well of Zam Zam.
A depth of 17 meters further down, these wells penetrating hard rock layers that form igneous Diorite. This type of igneous rocks (diorite) is often found in the Arabian Peninsula. At the top of the rock is encountered fractures-fractures which also has a water content. There used to be suspect this crack towards the Red Sea. But there is no (maybe I just have not found) geological report that shows it. From the pumping test well is capable of flowing water for 11 – 18.5 liters / sec, up to per minute can reach 660 liters / minute or 40 000 liters per hour. Cracks or fractures is the one that put out enough water. There was a crack (fracture) which extends towards the Hajar Aswad, with a length of 75 cm premises height of 30 cm, also some small gap towards Shaffa and Marwa. Description other geometric, slit wells under a Thawaf 1:56 m, the total depth of the well lining 30 m, water depth from the lip of the well = 4 m, 13 m depth springs, from spring until the bottom of the well 17 m, and the diameter of the wells ranged from 1:46 to 2.66 meters. Rainwater as a Source:
Makkah is located in the valley, according to SGS (Saudi Geological Survey) wide basin that supplies as the catchment area of 60 km2 only, of course, not too wide as a receiver of rain basin. The well water source Zamzam especially from rain water that fell in the area around Makkah. These wells are hydrological just ordinary wells that are in need of care. This well maintenance, including maintaining water quality and environmental hygienic wells and maintain water supply in order to meet the needs of the pilgrims in Makkah. Clearing of land for settlements around Makkah very neatly arranged to avoid the reduced capacity of the well.
Formerly in the top of the well is there is a building with an area of 8.3 mx 10.7 m = 88.8 m2. Between the years 1381-1388 the building H is dispensed to extend a tawaf. So the place to drink Zamzam water is moved to the basement. Under this land supplied drinking zam-zam water with some 350 taps (220 faucets for men and 130 taps for women), entrance hall Male and female-was separated. Currently the building above the well of Zam-Zam visible image above it is not there anymore, even the entrance to the basement even this has been closed.
So the space for worship Thawaf become more widespread. But if you’re observant fitting Thawaf we can still see no sign of where the well is located. The well was located approximately 20 meters east of the Kaaba. Monitoring and Maintenance Zamzam: The number of pilgrims to Mecca thirty years ago only 400 000 per year (year 1970), continued to increase to more than a million pilgrims per year 1990s, and currently has more than 2.2 million. Surely this well needed maintenance which is one of the wonders and the main attraction for pilgrims.
The development of Zamzam Care:
A long time ago, Zamzam taken with a bailer or bucket, but then built a water pump in the year 1373 H / 1953 AD These pumps deliver water from the well to the water tank, and which are also to taps that are around Zamza.
Test the pump (pumping test) was performed on this well, the pumping 8000 liters / second for more than 24 hours showed the well water level from 3.23 and 12.72 meters below the surface into meters and then until 13:39 meters. After it stopped pumping water level is back to 3.9 meters below the surface of the well in just 11 minut after the pump is stopped. So easily believed that the aquifer that supplies water comes from some cracks (fractures) on the hills around Mecca. Many things have been done the Saudi government to maintain this well by establishing a specialized agency in 1415 H (1994). and today has built a channel to distribute Zamzam water to a holding tank with a capacity of 15,000 m3, continued with another tank at the top of the Haram in order to serve pedestrians and travelers. In addition Zam-zam water was also transported to other places such use tanker trucks to the Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah Munawarrah.
Currently the well is equipped with an electric pump that is implanted under the (electric submersible pump). We can only see the photos just like the above. To the right of this is the drum hydrograph, instrument recording recording water level Zamzam (Old style drum hydrograph used for recording levels in the Zamzam Well). The content of Minerals: Unlike mineral water which are common, Zamzam water in it is unique to contain elements natural of 2000 mg per liter. Usually the natural mineral water (hard carbonated water) will not be more than 260 mg per liter. Chemical elements terkandng in Zamzam water can be grouped into:
The first, positive ions such as sodium (250 mg per liter), calcium (200 mg per liter), potassium (20 mg per liter), and magnesium (50 mg per liter).
Second, negative ions for example sulfur (372 mg per liter), bicarbonates (366 mg per liter), nitrate (273 mg per liter), phosphate (0.25 mg per liter) and ammonia (6 mg per liter).
The contents of chemical elements is what makes sense of Zamzam water is very distinctive and is believed to provide special properties. Water is readily available is scattered around the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah is the treated water so it is safe and fresh drink, there is already cooled and there is a cool (warm). But supposedly this hygienisation process does not use chemical processes to avoid changes in taste and content of this water.
Zamzam Crystal Structure – Dr Masura Emato
It has been scientifically proven that water is affected by what is recited over it. Japanese researcher Masaru Emoto has had a unique experience. He said that he had read in a book that each snowflake falling from the sky is unique. He said that his scientific instincts told him that this was not true. The geometric shape of the snowflake is determined by its chemical composition. The composition of water is well known – two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. So how come snowflakes that fall from the sky are different from one another? He said: “I was determined to prove that this theory was false.”
Dr Emato built a laboratory, consisting of a deep freezer with a regulator, because no liquid, subjected to sudden freezing, can assume a geometric shape. The freezing must be slow, so the atoms have the chance to crystallize into the shape decreed by Allah (SWT). There was a deep freezer with a regulator, a cold room at the temperature of -7°C, and several microscopes equipped with cameras, so he could photograph the snowflake before it melted. The scientists working in this room wore warm clothing. He said: “I took samples from two faucets in the laboratory, I froze them, and each sample gave me a different snowflake. The samples came from two different wells, two different rivers, from two different lakes. I almost went crazy and thought this was witchcraft.” A Saudi student at the University of Tokyo happened to meet him, and asked him what was wrong. Masaru told him his problem. The student said to him: “We have blessed water, called Zamzam water. I will give you a sample of this water so you can experiment on it. Zamzam water is not affected by witchcraft or Jinns, so using it can prove or disprove the whole theory.” Emoto took a sample of Zamzam water, and said: “I couldn’t crystallize it, even by diluting the water by 1,000.” In other words, he turned one cubic centimeter into one liter.
He said that when he diluted the water by 1,000 and froze it, he got a uniquely-shaped crystal. Two crystals were formed, one on top of the other, but they assumed a unique form. When he asked his Muslim colleague why there were two crystals, he told him it was because “Zamzam” is composed of two words: “Zam” and “Zam.”
Masaru Emoto said: “My Muslim colleague offered to recite Koranic verses over the water. He brought a tape-recorder and played some Koranic verses, and we got the most perfectly-shaped crystals. Then he played the 99 names of Allah (SWT). Each name produced a uniquely-shaped crystal. Then he began cursing the water. We said: Water, you are impure. You are not suited for consumption. The water, in this case, did not freeze, or produced an extremely ugly crystal.” When they uttered bad words like “war” or “fighting,” the water did not freeze, or else produced an ugly shape. When the man completed these experiments, which lasted 15 years, he published a five-volume book called Messages from Water. He wrote: “I have proven that water, that peculiar liquid, is capable of thinking, fathoming, feeling, getting excited, and expressing itself.”
Following was written by a Japanese Scientist Masaru Emoto:
The quality / purity of Zamzam water has, will not be find any where else in the water on this earth.
He used the Nanotechnology and researched a lot on Zamzam water. And found out that if one drop of Zamzam water mix in 1000 drops of regular water, regular water will get the inhibit the same quality like Zamzam.
He also found that a mineral in one drop of Zamzam water has its own importance that will not be find any other water on this earth.
He also found in some tests that the quality or ingredients of Zamzam water cannot be changed, why, science does not know the reason.
Even he re-cycled the Zamzam water, but it had no change it was still pure.
This scientist also found out that, the Muslims say BISMILLAH before eating/drinking. He says that after saying BISMILLAH on regular water, there are some strange changes happened in the quality of regular water. That make it best water.
He also found out that if some one recites the Quran on regular water, it gets the ability for the treatment of different diseases.
Masaru Emoto is a Japanese author known for his claim that if human speech or thoughts are directed at water droplets before they are frozen, images of the resulting water crystals will be beautiful or ugly depending upon whether the words or thoughts were positive or negative. Dr. Emoto claims this can be achieved through prayer, music or by attaching written words to a container of water.
Wait a minute – Aren’t you made up of Water?
Yes! 72% of your body is made up of water. Imagine how your words affect your own body. When you say, “I’m a failure,” or “I’m hopeless,” or “I won’t get well,” imagine how these words weaken your health.
Make a choice to say the best words. Say often,”Thank you Alhamdulillah I am wonderful,” and “I am beautiful”.
Mashallah we are truly blessed and honoured to know and to have drunk the holy water of Zamzam Alhamdulillah! bir hurmati Habib bir hurmati anzalta alayi Surat al-Fatiha!
